WHO ARE WE

About Sickle Cell
Health Initiative

At Sickle Cell Health Initiative, our journey began with a heartfelt mission to make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals affected by Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). Founded by Ibitayo Ayeni, a Sickle Cell Warrior, our organization was born from her unwavering commitment to educate, raise awareness, and foster empowerment for those living with SCD.

Ibitayo’s personal experiences have shaped our vision and fueled our dedication to transforming the narrative around Sickle Cell Disease

Raise Awareness

Educate the public about Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD), its effects, and

importance of genetic counseling.

Create a safe environment for individuals affected by SCD,

offering education, advocacy, mentorship, and community support.

Assistance and Resources

Provide financial, emotional, and medical support to individuals

living with SCD, and connect them with relevant resources and services.

I Am Not My SCD

With the mantra “I am not my SCD,” Ibitayo’s determination ignited a movement. She sought to break the silence and stigma surrounding sickle cell disorder, inspiring others to join the fight.

We believe that change begins with compassionate individuals like you. By volunteering with us, you’ll become part of a passionate community dedicated to supporting Sickle Cell Warriors, spreading awareness, and driving meaningful impact in our communities.

Message from the Board Chairperson, Sickle Cell Health Initiative

At the Sickle Cell Health Initiative, our journey began with a personal passion to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families impacted by Sickle Cell Disease (SCD). As a Sickle Cell Warrior myself, I, Ibitayo Ayeni, have dedicated my life to breaking the silence, stigma, and misconceptions surrounding SCD.

Today, as we look back on our milestones and the lives we’ve touched, I am reminded that this work would not be possible without individuals like you—our supporters, advocates, and partners. Together, we have the power to create a brighter future for Sickle Cell Warriors everywhere.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Let us continue to make an impact, one step at a time.
